Trail Running in Pocahontas State Park

On Sunday morning before going in for nightshift, I went on a fun 6 mile run with Lindsay from Linds Loves Miles.

We decided to check out Pocahontas State Park and it was beautiful.
Click here for a link to the government website.

It turned out that the Muddy Buddy race (a muddy obstacle race) was going on at the same time, so we got creative and made up our own route. :)

Check out our snake-like run from my Garmin:
The trails were nice rolling hills and there was always something fun to check out.

Here is my favorite waterfall:
We tried to navigate with these markers, but we just made most of it up:
But if you ever want to go there with a date, there are all sorts of cute little romantic overlooks:
Of course I forgot to bring my camera, so all these photos of the park are from the park's website-- I have no idea who that strange couple is!

This was only my 2nd time going on a trail run and I enjoyed it.  I'll definitely do it again.

Do you enjoy trail runs vs. city runs?
It was great to change things up.  I was a little nervous that I was going to trip on something and make a fool out of myself, but somehow I managed to avoid doing that!
