- a few medals from finishing marathons/age-group placements in smaller races and
- (what feels like) a book full of race bibs.
I'm not a clutter hoarder, but these little items each carry so many fond memories that I wanted to make sure that they were preserved!
I just didn't know how to display them. Until......
I snooped around the internet for some inspiration and showed some ideas to my creative mom. She got to work and surprised me with these lovely bib and medal hangers for Christmas!!
I just got around to hanging them up and I LOVE them.
Simple.
I like the neutral color of the board because it makes the medals/bibs more of the feature. If I get inspired, I'm going to paint something on the bib hanger, but for now it's blank.
What do you use to display your medals and bibs?
What should I write on the bib holder?
I was thinking "run" or something like that, but was trying to think of something more creative...perhaps DREAM..what do you think?

Love that, the orange is great! I don't have any ideas about what to write on the bib hanger.
ReplyDeleteI have a bibfolio for my bibs so that I can store them. I only have one medal so far, yay me, but I will get a hanger eventually.
we ALL start with ONE medal!
DeleteI'd put "believe" on there. Because you'd never do any of this if you didn't! Sometimes it's blind faith that makes you think you can do it in the first place, but believing gets you through to the finish.
ReplyDeleteBelieve was the first word that popped in my mind, too!
DeleteMe too. It's my favorite word!
DeleteYes, good call, I LIKE!!
DeleteI suck at keeping track of my medals. I'm like the only person alive that throws them in a drawer somewhere and loses them! It's a goal this year to do something fun with them cause yours looks AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteWait, dumb question, but how do you hang stuff on a brick wall?!
ReplyDeleteVery loose mortar I suppose! It's an inside wall that they probably put up as an afterthought and used soft material, perhaps so that it'd be easier to take down one day? But yeah, I thought the same thing!
Deletethat's awesome!!! so i put most of my medals in shadow boxes, and have hung a few from hooks with my initials on them. i normally dont keep any of my bibs.
ReplyDeleteOh shadow boxes, I like that idea...
DeleteWow, those are awesome!! I have one from Allied Medal Displays for all my race bling but I never thought to hang my bibs too! This is great! For my medals I got "every second counts" :)
ReplyDeleteEvery second counts, literally and figuratively! Love it!
DeleteLove the display! I'm trying think of word that would be good for the bibs! Like "Accomplished," "Raced," "Ran," but I don't love all of those... If I think of something, I'll be sure to let you know :)
ReplyDeleteYeah I was thinking the same things...I like the believe suggestion, because it's so true!
DeleteSuper cute. Way to go mom! I need to do something like this and soon. My medals are all hanging off the sides of pictures throughout the house...not ideal. I think if I had to pick a word it'd be something like Wowzers or something equally silly.
ReplyDeleteYeah it was super easy to do I think! I used to have my medals hanging off my diploma and they were all uneven and would fall off occasionally...
DeleteLove the display! You've got a great collection already. The bib one is really cool, haven't seen one like it before.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jo! Yeah I used to just throw my bibs in a pile, it's nice to have them organized.
DeleteI've got the same kind of medal hanger as Christina from Allied Medals and I love it. I put all of bibs in a bibfolio that my husband bought me for my birthday. It keeps all of my stuff organized and in one place. I love yours too!!
ReplyDeleteOh bibfolio, never heard of that! Sounds like a great way to keep them organized.
DeleteI love them :) I know Danielle made herself one....I think I'll do that. But right now I only have one medal and one bib :(
ReplyDeleteWe all start with ONE medal and ONE bib!!!!
DeleteI was in that place just a year and a half ago!
I want to make a bin thing like that but haven't gotten around to it. Your mom rocks!
ReplyDeleteI looooove my mom, she rocks my world. She's super sweet and very talented.
DeleteLet's hear is for awesome creative moms! I've got an Allied medal display that says Reach for the Stars. Still need a bib solution though.
ReplyDeleteYay mommmmms!
DeleteAnd if you need to, this bib thing was SUPER easy, you just take a wooden square, measure it out so that it's a few inches longer on each side and then put two little hooks on it. Most of the bibs all fit, I did have to fix the holes on one of them.
soooo cute! love it! right now i use an allied medal display that i won in a giveaway but i really want to try to make my own at some point! i like your idea of "dream"!
ReplyDeletethanks, I like Dream too, or Believe!
DeleteI love it! i need to find a way to display my bibs. I keep meaning to get a cork board or something but forget every time I go to the store.
ReplyDeleteYou have accumulated quite a few bibs and medals yourself, my speedy friend!!!
Deletestumbled onto your blog and just wanted to show some blog luv! def enjoyed this post! def a gr8 way to show what you have done

I keep meaning to buy a medal display holder...some people think they're cheesy, but I love them and I work hard for those medals!
ReplyDeleteYeah I worked hard for these things, it's fun to remember all the efforts...
DeleteI liked when you hung your medals on your Christmas tree!! (Or I think that was you.)
I love both displays! The bib holder is a great idea. Currently, all of my bibs are in a folder and my medals are in a shoe box.
ReplyDeleteYeah mine were just cluttering up my room and making a dusty pile, I thought it was time for a change haha.
DeleteThat looks great!
ReplyDeleteThanks Elle!
DeleteI love those! I need to make them asap. Mine were hanging on my desk forever, and now some are in boxes... time to display them!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Yeah this was pretty simple and they also have some more that you can buy on Etsy I think...you'll especially need to do it after your marathon :)
DeleteCool idea on the bib holder and medal displays! I put all my bibs in a scrapbook, but I kind of like the idea of a bib holder, that way you can flip through them anytime you want very easily. As for the word to put on it, I'm with the people above that said "believe"
ReplyDeleteYeah I was thinking about a bib scrapbook, but it seemed complicated to find one the right size, haha. It seemed easier to just make a wall-hangie thing.
DeleteYeah I also like "believe"!
I like medal hangers, but I've never had one. Actually, that's a lie, I got one for xmas, but I really like to put my medals on my bedroom doorknob and when I walk into my bedroom, they clank together and it reminds me of all my races and hard work (sometimes - ha) getting there. But I may use the hanger this year, we'll see.
ReplyDeleteHey, wanted to tell you that I was thumbing through channels today while I waited for my son to get home and I think I saw your cousin on Chopped!!!!!!!!!!!! It was the frozen french fry one as you said. I only saw the last 10 minutes but I got to see her win. Woohoo! So cool!
My medals used to hang on my diploma and it would drive me crazy because they'd clang together and make the frame droop to one side.
DeleteChopped, yayay!!!
Love the running board - great way to remember each race and showcase your achievements. Perhaps your bib sign could say "Success?"
ReplyDeleteThanks!! I like to remind myself sometimes of what you can accomplish if you set your heart on it.
DeleteThat's the best medal hanger I've seen!
ReplyDeleteMy medals and bibs are....clutter. I can't throw them away. But I also don't know where I'd hang them even I had some nifty hangers like yours. They mean a lot to me, but to others, aren't they kind of like bowling trophies?
Terzah, you are so sweet, thanks! It was super easy to make, I like to keep it simple.
DeleteBowling trophies, haha, never thought of it that way. I have mine in a part of my place where other people aren't going to traipse through, but a place that I'll see on a regular basis!
Love it!! I kinda wish I had all the medals I used to win as a kid doing the 1 milers when my dad ran races. Because I don't really have any medals now!! Haha. But I will totally display them when I do!
ReplyDeleteCorrie Anne, you are such a speedster, it's only a matter of time before you start knocking off races left and right. Oh that would have been so fun to have the medals from 1 milers as a kid, that's so cute!
DeleteI've got a shoebox of my old medals - mostly halves but I loved introducing my two fulls to the lot.
ReplyDeleteMy marathon bibs are tacked to the wall at my work office. The rest of the favorites are pinned in a big stack in my home office. I just can't give them up!
Yay for the introduction of the marathon medals to the mix!
DeleteI like how you put some on your wall in your office at work, that's a great reminder to stay focused/happy during the day.
I don't really take medals any more I must have 500+ in a box... I do have a couple on display, I hang them on a hand carved African head!!!
ReplyDeletehave never thought of keeping a bip, but I bet some-one clever will think of something great to write there..
Yeah I was going to say you probably literally have way too many to even begin to display!
DeleteThis is great! Love it! I wish I hadn't given mine away (I always find a kid that's cheering on the street and give it to them for their much appreciated encouragement!!)
ReplyDeleteWell and you probably have like 5 million medals so I don't know where you would be able to fit them all!! ;) You are so talented, little missy!
DeleteI love the medal hanging idea!
ReplyDeleteThanks Tink! I bet you have some super cute half medals!
DeleteCute Idea! Now if I only had some medals... ;)
ReplyDeleteOne and a half years ago, I didn't have ANY at all! We all start somewhere :)
DeleteCute! For Christmas, my parents bought me a steel medal hanger that says "Heart & Sole" and it has a little carved out hear and running shoe on it. I haven't hung it yet because I have to finish painting my master bedroom first. Right now my medals are thrown in the bottom of my running clothes drawer so I think they need to breathe. :)
ReplyDeleteAll of my old bibs I've thrown out but I've kept all of the ones from the past 2 or so years. Not sure how to display those yet! - Kristin
Yes, they'll be happy to be let up for air!!
DeleteYou could try a little bib holder, it's SUPER easy to make (I think) and keeps them so well organized. And you don't even have to hang it in a hugely obvious place if you don't feel like it.
Yea, it's pretty ridiculous that Bay to Breakers is now $82 for registration and you don't even get a tshirt. When I ran the race back in 2000, the registration price was like $40 I think, and it included a tshirt. Seems like everything has gotten pricey in terms of running recently.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, I didn't realize that you don't even get a t-shirt for that price, wowww...
DeleteI've had my eye on that race bib idea on Pinterest for months now. LOVE IT! So inspiring to remember what all you have accomplished so far, you know?
ReplyDeleteYeah I like to check it out so that I can be reminded of what is possible in life!
DeleteI made my own medal hanger a few months ago and I love it!! It hangs next to my mirror, so it is a nice confidence booster in the morning :) I am thinking of making one of those bib hangers soon - I bought the stuff to make it, just need the re-energized motivation! I wrote "Dream, Motivate, Run" - taken from my Marathon T-shirt "Dream, Motivate, Do"
ReplyDeleteYes, I remember you making yours, LOVED it! In fact, I think it was you that inspired me to get thinking about making my own...
DeleteHow sweet of your mom!! I love it... I have not taken the time to display mine either, but that's a great idea to pass it along as a gift suggestion!
ReplyDeleteLove these! The orange looks really good.
ReplyDeleteI love the simplicity.
ReplyDeleteMy medals are next to my hair products and moisturizer. Weird?
ReplyDeleteI concur with writing "believe"
