*it's not too late to enter enter my Color Me Rad giveaway HERE.

I quickly jumped back into reality after a vacation week in Duck, NC, one of the little communities along the Outer Banks.

I could get used to doing my post-run stretching with the ocean as my back drop...

Beaching it up in the Outer Banks:
Jockey's Ridge-- largest sand dune on East Coast
Twirling at sunset!
A little baking

Horsing Around in the Outer Banks:
Outer Banks horse statues are everywhere.

Photo from last year's trip!
Eating in the Outer Banks:
I cooked a bunch of stuff, including deviled eggs!
For those of you who know me, you understand that this involved some major branching out for me.  I'm slowly gaining my confidence in the kitchen.

Cuddlin' in the Outer Banks:

Tappan, huge thanks to you and your family for a wonderfully relaxing week!!

Do you go to the beach every year with your family or friends?
I usually go to Bethany Beach, DE a few times per year, but I've only made it up there once this year since my marathon there in December 2011!

  1. I wonder if your Fred was related to my Chester? Looks like you had a great time... I loved running in Duck too.

  2. Looks like you had a great time, and nice weather!

I don't vacation at the beach every year, but I go to the beach a lot; maybe 2x/month from March - Sept. If we lived closer, i'd go a whole lot more often, but it's an hour drive and that's to far to go during the week.

  3. Looks like a great place to hang out and run. I have always heard great things about the Outer Banks but have never been there myself. I have only been to the ocean in Maui and once to the Gulf of Mexico. Montana isn't very close to either shore.

I will be at the coast later this summer at the end of the Hood to Coast relay. :)

  9. Great pics of the ocean, looks like a fun place! When I hear the word Outer Banks, I think of the movie The Perfect Storm - isn't that also a place in the northeast off the coast? That sand dune is massive!

  11. Beautiful photos! It looks like a fabulous trip.
I could definitely live somewhere with a beach to run and stretch on it. We try to go someone with an ocean each year. Last year we were lucky and made it to the Oregon Coast, San Francisco, and Hawaii. Hopefully we'll get some beach time this year!

I love, love, love the beach! Running on the beach in the mornings before anyone puts their towel down is the best time to go. So jealous of your runs!
