| The Greenbrier and the Homestead are a short 50 minute drive from each other. And it's a gorgeous drive...make sure you stop to check out the scenic overlooks. |
Both of these resorts are like getting into a time machine, going back to another era where life was simpler but still very celebrated!
I'm going to start with a little report about the Homestead, a luxury resort in Hot Springs, VA. In the next couple days, I'll do a quick chat about the Greenbrier.
The Homestead
The minute you turn the corner of the winding mountain roads and see the tall building peeking out from the mountains, you feel like you've been picked up and transported to a quaint little european town in tucked away in the mountains.
When you enter the building, you are greeted by TALL ceilings and beautifully ornate decor.Every corner I turned, there was a new little sitting room or a comfy seat to cozy up with a book.
We wandered outside to the courtyard area, which is absolutely gorgeous. Gazebos, lawn games, outdoor pool, a cafe, and immaculate landscaping.
You will never get bored here. There are endless opportunities for entertainment...including:
- alpine ski resort
- championship golf courses
- ice skating
- spa and wellness center
- tennis
- horseback riding
- hiking and biking
....and my favorite: the Jefferson Pools hot springs where Thomas Jefferson used to soak!
The feeling of relaxation at the Homestead is pretty unbelievable, I can't wait to plan a weekend getaway there :)
Have you ever been to the Homestead or can you think of a resort that's similar to it?

The comfortable casual elegance of the Homestead actually reminded me of the Hotel del Coronado (my favorite hotel ever)...and interestingly enough, it turns out that they are both managed by the same company.

Oh I LOVE the Hotel Del. In San Diego, we used to go there on the weekends and have a drink at their bar (and occasionally sneak into the pool). It was so nice!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the recommendation. We may have to check this place out!
Yes, LOVE the hotel del! My aunt and uncle live on Coronado Island, just a short walk away from the Del...so when Tappan and I were there in May, we stayed with my aunt and uncle but visited the Del so many times! The last night we were there, there was an outdoor beach party right outside of the Del as the sun was setting, it was so serene.
DeleteLooks so relaxed and pretty and beautifu! Funny you mention the Greenbriar, I saw it a few days ago while watching The Bachelorette! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat?! I didn't realize that the bachelorette went to the Greenbrier!!!! I'm going to have to look that episode up!
DeleteThat first pic of you is awesome!
ReplyDeleteI've never been to the Homestead, but I do want to go! We went to the Greenbrier for our 10th wedding anniversary. It's a piece of heaven! It was October and everything was beautiful. And, boy, do they spoil you there! Can't wait to go back!
ReplyDeleteWow! Gorgeous! I'm ashamed to say that I have never been to VA to West Virginia. Definitely need to some day soon!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I mean you and the scenery by the way :) I love the Hotel Del Coronado as well and I have never been to Homestead but I want to go now!
ReplyDeleteThat resort looks awesome. I've only been to West Virginia once, to a little town I think that was called Shepardsville or Shepardstown? It's a very rural area.
ReplyDeleteI would the Greenbrier!! We used to go every summer as a kid!
ReplyDeleteThe Homestead is beautiful!
