June Recap and July Goals

In the blink of an eye, June is gone!!
June flew by faster than a race horse at the
Strawberry Hill horse races
In June...
Naked Foot 5K with Miss Zippy!
July is now here, so let's think of some health/fitness goals!
  • Run smart and take off at least 1 to 3 days per week
    • I joined a new training team that does higher mileage than I'm used to doing, so I want to make sure I don't get too swept away with it.
  • Eat at least one meaty protein item every day
    • I'm not naturally a big meat eater, so I'm working on getting more protein into my diet
  • Pick a fall or spring triathlon and do at least one cross-training session per week
    • AKA start getting proficient at swimming and NO, Katherine, doggie paddle doesn't count :)
Outside of the fitness world, my goals are:
  • Be a more proactive friend in real life
    • I sometimes get caught up in my own world and forget to show the people I love how much I care about them!  Don't assume that people know how much they mean to you.
  • Plan a trip and schedule lots of vacation for the fall!!
  • Keep my e-mail inboxes empty.
    • I have been horrible at this...
Do you have any goals for July?
I am usually NOT a monthly goal setter, but one of my books on tape the other day mentioned how beneficial (in terms of happiness and success) it is to set goals, so I'm going to try it out.  Gotta love the books on tape :)

oh and PS please stop by Heather's blog!  She's fundraising for a therapeutic horse program and would love any help she can get!

  1. You had a great June! I love the triathlon goal! My number one July goal is to stay injury-free (stretch a lot, roll a lot, and pay attention to my body).

  3. Great month! I've never been one for monthly goals either...but perhaps it is a good idea!

  4. I'm a huge goals nerd. I love lists and being organized, and making a list of goals for the year, month, etc helps me to keep focused on what I really want to achieve. Plus I'm overly competitive, so if I make a goal, I become obsessed with achieving it!

  5. You and everyone else have been doing so great with your goals. I am going to set some for this month to give me some motivation. :-)

  6. Beyond running a marathon in July on the 8th I haven't set any goals for July yet, I need to get on that! Great job in July. and good luck with your triathlon training!

  7. Looks like great goals! My July goals include finishing my injury rehab healthily and trying to finish my first sprint tri in under 1:10. I think the last one is very ambitious (then again I have no clue since I've never done a triathlon so I have ZERO understanding of proper expectations) but we shall see.

  10. Those sound like fantastic goals! My goals are to: stick with my training plan, even though July is a crazy month, have a fabulous vacation with my friends, maintain my weight, & figure out what I'm doing with my work. (You know, that last one is just a minor thing. ;-))

  11. I love these monthly recaps! I didn't know you were interested in triathlons... I'm doing my first in two weeks! I'm with you on the swimming, I have a lot of room for improvement, but am doing this one just for fun. And I could work on the protein thing, too- I'm not big on meat either, and have to consciously think of ways to add protein every day.

  12. I don't have any specific goals for July but I always have my list of running goals that I am striving to meet. You have some great goals which I am sure you will meet! I also want to do a triathlon but need to learn how to swim properly first!

  17. Looks like you had a great June! I'm a terrible goal maker. Not sure why. Spending more time/attention w/friends is always a good thing!

  18. A triathlon! That sounds really fun. I love to write down goals. It's pretty much the only way I can make anything happen.:)

And my camera is a Canon EOS 20D. We bought it on ebay a long time ago, and the lens it came with broke (kids dropped it). So now I'm using an awesome 50 mm lens that is cheap but doesn't zoom. BUT it takes amazing close-ups. Eventually will get another lens for distance stuff, but again the 50mm is so great for the close-ups.

  19. Great goals, especially the one about friends. Sometimes I get the same way and neglect to tell people how much I care about them! Its hard to manage things some days but its good to stop and let people know once in a while

  22. Great July goals. My inbox is a mess right now between vacation and the last few days, I've been missing in action, but I'm hoping to get under control. I'm so impressed how many miles you ran though!
