Wintergreen Resort is a four-season mountain retreat in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. Since I was born and raised in Virginia, I had mostly heard about people using it for winter skiing but it turns out that it's great for summer/spring/fall get-aways as well!
Amenities include:
-spa with indoor pool, outdoor pool, sauna, steam room
-26 trails for skiing/snowboarding
-45 holes of championship golf
-tennis courts
-restaurants
We took full advantage of the spa/pool and the running trails!
We went on a 1.5 hour trail run on Saturday morning...don't know if it was the 4,000 ft elevation or the steep terrain but it I was pretty thoroughly worked out by the end.
The five of us were each assigned a different meal, which worked out really well and we had plenty of food leftover. I don't have a ton of go-to recipes, so it was fun to learn a couple new simple and healthy ideas-- I've already recreated the salmon dinner from Saturday night!

Have you ever been on a girls weekend?
This was my first one and we had such an enjoyable time, we're already looking at the calendar for the spring...
My two best friends and I try to do them a few times a year-- usually one falls around Christmas as a present to each other. It's nice to be just the girls sometimes :)

I'm so jealous- that sounds amazing! I need to schedule some good girls time away... a weekend with girls who love to run, good food, plus a spa is about as good as it gets!

ReplyDeleteAwesome! Isn't Wintergreen amazing? We vacationed there one summer, and I loved the views and hot tubs most :) And the hills are absolutely endless.

ReplyDeleteHaven't done a girls trip ever minus meeting my best friend in vegas for the weekend- that counts I guess :) but I foresee some girls weekends coming up soon when my other BFF moves to NYC next month. And I LOVE that photo of you jumping. So cool!

ReplyDeleteI have had lots of girls weekends, but we have never gone to a destination before. We have always talked about a girl's weekend in Vegas, but it still hasn't happened yet.
ReplyDeleteI`m traveling to the lake with one of my friends next week and spontaneously visited another one earlier this year. But a real enjoy-yourself-and-workout-weekend with a small group of friends is still on the to-do list.

ReplyDeleteIt is so nice that your girlfriends run and that you guys can do fun active stuff together. Most of my best friends don't run, so while we definitely do girls weekends each year, we can't really run together. I have a great local running group, so maybe some of us should take a long weekend trip :) Looks like an awesome time!
