Because of this, I usually don't go shopping very often (OK, other than the occasional Target splurge). However, I'm trying to relax and be a touch more frivolous with my purchases because I can't forget to have fun and treat myself and other a little more often. Yeah who has that problem other than uptight nerds like me?
Anyway, here are a few of the new goodies that I picked up this week:

comfy slippers for $9.99 from Costco

My new favorite purchase from the dollar section of Target, $1 mod glasses!

So of course I had to get a 2nd pair of $1 glasses in red. And then I picked up this Santa Fe dress from Marshalls.

This neon green Incase MacBook sleeve was on clearance at Marshalls and I'd actually been looking for something like this for a while so I snagged it.

I didn't actually purchase these chairs, I just took a photo because I really enjoyed this print.
Do you believe in treating yourself to new fun purchases? Are you a "saver" or a "spender"?
I am trying to get better about buying little treats because sometimes I go overboard with the whole saving idea, even though it's not necessary to be so strict about it.

I'm a total saver but I like to splurge now and then like everyone else. I love that dress!! I buy dresses like most girls buy shoes.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite purchase lately was a pair of red jeans that have this lace print on them. The type you can only wear now and then because they are so loud but I couldn't resist. :)
Love the dress, and $10 for a j crew blazer is crazy!
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely a saver but generally shop a lot on holidays!
Love the dress! I am a super saver, then I splurge and buy all kinds of things. I am working on being a little more consistent. Little splurges every now and then seems better than complete deprivation followed by over indulgence :)
ReplyDeleteAn interview eh???? Good luck (I think, as long as it doesn't take you away from Richmond!)!
ReplyDeleteThis is a timely post for me... I just blew a bunch of money on new fall clothing because nothing from last year fits! Generally I think I'm a good balance between spender and saver but lately I've definitely been more of a spender. Whoops.
Also, I concur with everyone else that the dress is awesome!
ohhhh i love those chairs! and everything else. I'm totally a spender... not bad, i just love getting stuff on sale. i'm definitely a sale shopper and tj maxx is my fav store for home stuff AND clothes.
ReplyDeleteI am a pretty bad spender, but I go through splurges of it. I will be really good for a couple of months and then I over indulge. My recent "why did I purchase these???" are brown riding boots from DSW. They were $150, who knows what their original price was....I love getting stuff at Target- it is my favorite store. I even have that same pencil skirt!
ReplyDeleteI try really hard to be a saver... Usually what happens is this: I find a TON of things I would love to buy, so once I have money set aside that I can reasonably spend on those things, I talk myself out of buying 90% of it. It drives my husband insane. haha.
ReplyDeleteBut then, I'll get stressed/PMSy/any sort of emotional and want to shop... I'm an emotional shopper. I once spent 150 bucks in Crate and Barrel because my hubby and I were arguing about how I never buy anything for myself. So, I guess I'm a vindictive shopper too? haha.
Oh my goshhh you look so great in your suit!!! You will kill those interviews. SO SHARP. Also. I love your Sante Fe Dress...can we please wear our navajo dresses together and confuse people? I wish you got that dress at a chain store because I love it! I want one!
ReplyDeleteI really try to balance the spending and saving, though naturally I'm more of a spender.
ReplyDeleteMost of my overboard spending happens because of sales on workout clothing or gear.
Nice way to get some deals. I am a guilty spender and one who frets over every dollar spent. So with that said I do believe in treating yourself now and again. I am glad to hear you did so for yourself!
ReplyDeleteI really like the chairs too! I am a spender! Big time! I need to become a better saver, that's for sure. My husband is the same way as me so we're two spending peas in a pod (not a good combo, lol). I spend more money on running clothes and accessories (and massage) than anything else. I always say that people who say running is a cheap sport haven't met me! LOL
ReplyDeleteYou definitely have to treat yourself every once in a while! Especially if it will serve a good purpose (like your new suit-snappy!) or if you've been working really hard towards something. I like to set goals for treating myself, so for example I'm going to purchase a nice pair of running pants after my next race. I try to be a saver, and am learning how to do that better...
ReplyDeleteGood luck on the interview!
ReplyDeleteYour purchases are all 100% worth it! Sometimes you can't put a price on little things that make you happy. I try to be a saver, but occasionally I splurge. I bought a Kate Spade watch in the spring, and every time I look down at it, it makes me smile. Worth every penny!!
ReplyDeleteGood Luck on your upcoming interview!
ReplyDeleteI go through cycles where i wont buy anything then other times where i buy everything in sight. I guess kind of a "binge" spender. I have the laptop case in pink! It has been great!
ReplyDeleteI think I'm more of a saver but I can also enjoy and spend money. Especially when I feel comfortable with my savings account :) Like your purchases, very nice!!
ReplyDeleteLove the dress with the red glasses! I wish I was a saver, but sadly, I buy a lot of things, mostly booze and food :)
ReplyDeletetotal spender. love the suit! is the jcrew warehouse sale near you?? it came to auburn way back in the day when i was in school and i RACKED up. it would be worth a trip just to shop! look forward to meeting you at the RW 1/2. and congrats on boston!!
