Runner's World Half Marathon

Wanna become BFFs with Olympic marathoner Shalane Flanagan?
Shalane and Kara, I know you two are tight,
but is there room for one more?

source:  nbc.com
I do!  I plan on meeting her at the Runner's World Half Marathon and I hope to sneak her home in my suitcase with me so that she can become my full-time running buddy :)  [Just kidding Shalane, because I know you're reading this haha.]
Hmm, maybe I'll become lightning fast if I hang
w/more Olympic- caliber athletes...
But seriously, she is going to be at the inaugural Runner's World Half Marathon Festival in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

And it's not just a race, it's an entire weekend of festivities and events, October 19, 20, and 21.

It's like the running world's very own version of woodstock.
I know how to throw a peace symbol
mid-race, I'll fit in perfectly.
Depending on what distance fits in with your training, you can choose from a 1/2 marathon (Sunday 10/21) or a 10K or 5K (Saturday 10/20.)

Details!
-weekend will include seminars, live music, and running films
-pre-race dinner on Saturday 10/20 with the Runner's World editors
-dates:  October 19-21
-location:  the beautifully refurbished Bethlehem Steel Mill and ArtsQuest SteelStacks Campus
The folks over at Runner's World have generously provided me the opportunity to participate in this event, thanks guys!  I'm going to run at least the half marathon...and I'm even thinking of doing the "hat trick" which is all three running events.  I won't be racing because I (80% sure) have a marathon a couple weeks afterward and I don't want to be recovering at that point... but it still should be a lot of fun.

Prices are listed here on the registration page, they range from $40 for the 5K to $90 for the half...but since you're my buddy, you don't have to pay full price. The folks over at Runner's World also gave me the discount code BLOGGER25 to share with you for 10% off of any race!

Do you have any plans for a half marathon this Fall?
Funny thing is that I've never raced a half marathon.  Time to change that...well, not with this one because I want to save my legs for a Canadian marathon the first week of November that I've been eyeing, but hopefully by next spring!

  11. I had planned to do a half Sept. 23rd 2012 but was injured 15 weeks ago with a pelvic stress fracture...ugh! I did run the other day for the first time in 15 weeks and it felt great...just not enough time to run my half, pooh! Godspeed to you girl!
