I just want to take a moment to wish him a Happy Birthday!!
We don't usually make a big to-do about birthdays in my family, but I do see it as a great excuse to get together and hang out. I live in Richmond, VA and my family's up in Arlington so Tappan and I came up for a little visit for a day or two.
My mom is an AMAZING cook (I know, how did those genes get lost along the way) and she already crafted these beautiful chocolate covered strawberries for dessert tonight. My mom and I are going to cook a giant Pad Thai feast for dinner :)
This afternoon we're going to go for a little bike-ride-run along the Potomac River (me running, parents biking next to me), which is one of my favorite things to do when I come up to visit my parents, so many fun places to explore. They live just a couple miles from Georgetown and just a couple miles from the beautiful Mount Vernon Trail that runs along the Potomac River.
My dad has always been an inspiration to me. He has an incredible work ethic and started his own business and worked hard his entire life before retiring a couple years ago. Both my parents are some of the most patient people I know and are extremely supportive of my sister and me. They have always encouraged us to follow our passions.
One of my favorite memories with my dad was a bike trip that we did together the summer after I graduated from UVa in 2005. We got together with a sister-city group and biked across Germany. I can't even begin to describe how much that time with my dad meant to me.

I really admire the fact that my dad (and mom) remain active, going to the gym multiple times per week, they even do a group pilates class together! I love how they try to take good care of themselves, I want them to be around forever :)
On a side note, I have NO idea how I came up with the name "Misour" for my dad, I just made it up when I was a teenager and it stuck.
OK, enough writing for now, it's time to hang out!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MISOUR!!!!!!!
Love, Ro-e
